Writing helps me breathe.

I'm a mixed race on-the-fence Feminist in a hijab based in the UK where I live with my amazing husband and son.

I began writing at the age of 6/7 but mostly wrote poetry about dragons.

I graduated from university with a BA (Hon) in English Literature and have worked in several different third sector (charity) organisations relating to people who are deaf or hard of hearing, domestic violence, and people from ethnic minorities struggling with mental health.

My work has been featured in numerous publications including MuslimGirl.com, Huffington Post UK, SISTER's magazine and Muslimtravelgirl.com.

I've performed spoken word across the UK and have also been featured on Islam Channel and British Muslim TV.

My writing covers a broad range of ideas and topics but my main interest is exploring the Muslim female experience.

The female Muslim voice is constantly suppressed.  We are very often spoken for or talked about but rarely invited to join those discussions.  I believe we need to take back our own narrative using the power of our voice.  Our proud, fierce female Muslim voice.

When not writing I love to travel, draw, eat good food, and try new things.
